But that last phrase is slippery. Many artists are highly political, but in what seems to me a fantastising way. Sartre for example. Delusional might be the word for it.

I notice that Stoppard wrote the screenplay for the current Anna Karenina film.

From Wikipedia: "In the early 1990s, with the fall of communism, Stoppard found out that all four of his grandparents had been Jewish and had died in Terezin, Auschwitz and other camps, along with three of his mother's sisters. In 1998, following the deaths of his parents he went back, for the first time, to Zlín after 60 years. He has expressed grief both for a lost father and a missing past, but he has no sense of being a survivor, at whatever remove. "I feel incredibly lucky not to have had to survive or die. It's a conspicuous part of what might be termed a charmed life"."

Alanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16898681927233029900noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4964847228497363438.post-5463998661866164602013-03-02T12:14:44.210+00:002013-03-02T12:14:44.210+00:00Bit of a worry, isn't it?Bit of a worry, isn't it?Mark Englishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03506844097173520312noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4964847228497363438.post-29076523661442806842013-03-02T06:03:23.144+00:002013-03-02T06:03:23.144+00:00Plato might have written that first paragraph!Plato might have written that first paragraph!Alanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16898681927233029900noreply@blogger.com
