Over the past few years I have written for various sites and have been a regular contributor to The Electric Agora. My academic background is in intellectual history, linguistics and philosophy (PhD, Monash University), but my interests are by no means solely academic or intellectual.
I combine a basically scientific view of the world with a strong attachment to certain values and ways of living which are currently being pushed aside. My cultural pessimism is qualified, however, and balanced by hopes for the longer term. Civilizations rise and fall, and it is not unreasonable to believe that what is good in what has been lost will be rediscovered and find new forms of expression.
